Course Content

We have designed this training with the best teachers available in their fields in order to impart to the students the passion they feel for their subject. The course focuses on providing a safe space and a nurturing atmosphere for an in depth study of the practice of yoga. This enables the student to deepen their personal practice and find their unique voice as a skilled yoga teacher.

During our teacher training program we will explore the essence of each pose, with the goal of enabling our students to have all the tools possible to teach inspirational yoga classes.

We are also looking for students with a genuine desire for yoga, willing to immerse themselves into the intensive weekends.  The course will be challenging, but incredibly rewarding too, both in terms of your development as a Yogi and your new found skills as a teacher.  Whilst your own practise will certainly develop throughout the course, the primary purpose of the course is to teach you how to teach – a very different skill.  The best practitioners do not always make the best teachers!  With many thousands of hours of teaching between them, our teachers will show you how to tailor a class to the students in the room.  This is only possible with a solid grounding in your subject matter, giving you the flexibility and confidence to see what your students need and to give it to them.

All modules in the course are taught by resident Red Hot Yoga teachers, so you can not only benefit from their specific expertise on Teacher Training, but can also practise their classes and see them practise what they preach in a living, breathing, yoga studio.

On completion, the student will be able to teach a strong yoga class grounded in a competent knowledge of human anatomy, the psychology of practice, the teaching & learning cycle, and yogic tradition.

The key areas covered as part of the Course Syllabus are:

  1. Teaching Experience

Course Assessment

The course will include continuous assessment as well as practical and written examinations.  In order to Graduate and receive certification, students must complete the following:

  1. Complete the total number of contact hours. This includes attending all the course sessions or making up any missed hours with a Senior Yoga Teacher.
  2. Complete all non-contact hours and homework.
  3. Be present at all course session modules and be punctual.
  4. The RHY Teacher Training is a combination of continuous assessment, practical and written examinations. After each module, reading and small amounts of written work are set.
  5. Towards the end of the training, there are slightly longer pieces of work in each subject area to complete.
  6. There will also be a final teaching assessment, an open book exam and an assessed piece of coursework.
  7. Graduation will be dependent on completion of all written work, attendance to all sessions and payment in full of course fees. If you fail to attend any of the sessions, you will be required to make up the missed hours, which will incur additional fees.
  8. Graduation from the training is not a given. All areas must be complete and passed before certificates are issued. We are dedicated to only certifying those students who we are convinced will be competent to teach a strong Yoga class, according to the examinations we set.

These rules may seem stern, but experience has shown that only a structured approach leads to consistently good teaching and consequently, confident, well-equipped teachers. Please respect us as your teachers as we will support and respect each and every one of you.
