Spotlight on … Denise Marlow

by Denise Marlow

When did you start practicing yoga?

I have been a student of yoga since 1996.

How would you describe your teaching style?

I teach as I like to practice, a breath-led, alignment based practice to build strength and flexibility. I teach yoga as a means of encouraging fluid movement in the body; guiding students to work their body has a whole, connected structure to confidently move and nourish themselves physically and mentally when they come to their mat. Meditation is also an integral part of my yoga teaching and personal practice.

Who or what is your yoga inspiration?

I have been strongly influenced by British Wheel of Yoga course teachers, who teach from the lineage of Krishnamacharya and his son TKV Desikachar.

Who have been your yoga teachers?

My main teachers have been Simon Low, Nadia Narain, Julie Gudmestad, Donna Fahri, Gary Carter, Catherine Annis and Maya Fiennes.

Which classes do you teach at RHY?

I teach RHY Unheated, Red Hot and Yin Yoga.
